Appleby's Annual Walkathon |
![]() |
|
On Thursday, October 15, 2026, Appleby College students and employees will be walking (or running) approximately 18 kilometres for charity across Oakville in Appleby's Annual Walkathon! A much-loved school tradition, Appleby's Walkathon first began in 1969 and raised $2,800. Since then, the school community has raised more than $1 million for various local, national and international charities. Funds raised this year will be donated to support organizations including United Way Golden Horseshoe, Halton Learning Foundation, Kids Help Phone, Food for Life, Lighthouse for Grieving Children, Swim Drink Fish, and Kerr Street Mission. Students have an online participant profile for Appleby's Annual Walkathon, enabling them to share their participation with friends and family and track the progress of funds raised. If you would like to make a pledge to support a participant, you can access their page by visiting the main Walkathon page and searching for their name. For additional information on this year's Walkathon, please visit the Contact Us page. Much of the success of Walkathon has been due to the strong volunteer support we receive from our community. Without your support and participation as volunteers, we could not achieve what we have. If you would like to learn more about volunteering, and see the available positions and timing, please click here. I encourage everyone to play a role in this year's Walkathon! If you have any questions about volunteering for the event, please email Leah Macey, Walkathon committee parent volunteer coordinator. As this event takes place outdoors, students are encouraged to wear comfortable footwear and to dress for the weather (pants, long sleeves, etc.). After the Walkathon on Thursday, October 15, a nutritious lunch will be provided by Sodexo and there will be one early bus departure at 2:30 p.m. and no late bus. We look forward to seeing you at the 2026 Walkathon! Sincerely, Dr. Claire Kelly |

The Global Education department held a general information session on September 30. This session covered all areas within the Global Education program at Appleby. The event started with an Introduction to the Global Education program and its objectives. Afterwards, the session moved to various breakout rooms, each of which focused on an individual area of the department. The breakout session topics included: Global Experiential Trips, Global Leadership Diploma, Global Student Conferences and Exchanges, Duke of Edinburgh Award, Immersive Programs and Middle School Experiential Education. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Program
From September to October, all new students in Upper and Senior School were enrolled in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award program. We believe that this award helps students to develop competencies in four different areas that fit into our overall philosophy of a holistic education and belief in experiential education and leadership development. If your student missed a registration session, they should attend extra help which is available every Wednesday during the lunch hour. More information about the program can be found here.
Students Born in 2009 to 2014 and 2016 to 2019 - Update Student Immunization Records
This school year, Halton Region Public Health is enforcing Ontario’s Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA) for students born in 2009 to 2014, and 2016 to 2019, who are missing immunization records with Public Health. Please click here to view a letter to parents. The ISPA requires that all students attending school be fully immunized against the designated diseases listed below:

Parents/guardians will be notified by mail if their child’s record is missing information, starting in October 2026. New Boarding House Connection Evenings
In response to feedback from boarding students, Boarding House connection evenings will be made available to boarders starting after the Thanksgiving long weekend. Visits may take place in common areas or in the host student’s room. As with all aspects of boarding life, clear expectations are in place: room doors must remain open, and visiting areas will be actively supervised by faculty. For additional information, please contact Luke van der Hulst, director, boarding life at lvanderhulst@appleby.on.ca.

What started as a fun day of baking, connecting and building community has grown into a wonderful Appleby tradition. Most importantly, this fundraiser helps support the ACPA and the Appleby community, contributing to programs and initiatives that benefit our students and families.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who ordered pies, spread the word, rolled up their sleeves and helped make the day such a success. Your energy, enthusiasm and generosity made it all possible. We couldn't have done it without you! Thank you for making Appleby Pie Day 2026 one to remember.
